The vineyard is superbly situated in the eastern part of the Pomerol appellation, next to l’Evangile.
The Pomerol classed growths are harvested from a type of soil unique to the area around the river Garonne – the graves intermixed with clay and iron. The typical trio of the Bordeaux terroir is the necessary condition to the finest wines produced in Bordeaux.
The legacy handed down by the Nicolas family from generation to generation lies of course in its knowledge but also in the quality of the grapes vinified every year: Always the first to ripen, Merlot (80%) offers soft suppleness and fullness and Cabernet-Franc (20%) adds finesse and delicate aromas to the wine.
Château La Conseillante is aged in oak barrels of which 90% are new each year. The wine has a dazzling ruby-red colour. Recognizable on the palate, it reveals itself as full-bodied and with distinctive well-rounded tannins. This wine will repay the patient consumer because of its ability to support extending cellaring.
