Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac
Bordeaux's most famous property and wine, Lafite Rothschild has become a name synonymous with wealth, prestige, history, respect, and wines of remarkable longevity.
Chateau Latour, Pauillac
Impressively situated on the Pauillac border, Latour produces wine which is impeccable and a classic model of consistent excellence, both in great, medicore, and poor vintages.
Chateau Margaux, Margaux
The wine of Margaux is one of opulent richness, a deep, multidimensional bouquet with a fragrance of ripe black currants, spicy vanillin oakiness, and violets.
Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac
Mouton Rothschild is the place and wine that the late Baron Philippe singularly created. No doubt his aspirations for Mouton, beginning at the age of 21 when he acquired the estate, were high. However, though the production of an opulently rich and remarkably deep and exotic style of Pauillac, he has been the only person able to effectuate a change in the 1855 classification of the wines of the Medoc.

Second Growths

Chateau Cos d'Estournel, Saint-Estephe
Under the inspired direction of Bruno Prats, Cos d'Estournel has risen to the top of its class in Saint-Estephe and produces one of the Medoc's finest wines.
Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, Saint-Julien
The wine of Ducru Beaucaillou is the essence of elegance, balance, breed, class and distinction. Its nature is a stubbornly slow developer and most of the finest vintages usually take at least 10 years to reveal its harmony of fruit and power.
Chateau Gruaud-Larose, Saint-Julien
For decades, Gruaud Larose produced St-Julien's most massive and backward wine. Under the new proprietor there has been an obvious trend to produce a more refined, less rustic and tannic style of Gruaud. The production is large and the quality.
Chateau Leoville Barton, Saint-Julien
In 1826 Hugh Barton, proprietor of Langoa, purchased part of the big Leoville estate. His part then became known as Leoville Barton. Six generations of Bartons have since followed and continued to preserve the quality of the wine.
Chateau Leoville Las Cases, Saint-Julien
Leoville Las Cases is unquestionably one of the great names and wines of Bordeaux. The estate is one of Bordeaux's largest, and while the meticulous and passionate commitment to quality may be by several others, it is surpassed by no one.
Chateau Leoville Poyferré, Saint-Julien
Created in 1840 and bought in 1920 by the Cuvelier family, Leoville Poyferre is made after careful tastings. The result is an extremely well-balanced wine with a great deal of finesse and excellent ageing potential.
Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron de Pichon, Pauillac
The vineyard is superbly situated on gravelly soil with a full souterly exposure. Much of the vineyard is adjacent to that of Latour and produces a powerful, bold, intensely concentrated wine which merits its prestigious second-growth status.
Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac

Chateau D'Armailhac, Pauillac
This remains the least well-known and the most obscure property of the late Baron Philippe's trio of Pauillac estates. Despite the impressive age of the vineyard, the wine has tended to be relatively light, quick to mature, and easily outdistanced in complexity, character, and longevity by the two siblings.
Chateau Clerc Milon, Pauillac
Another of the Baroness Philippine Rothschild estates, the vineyard is briliantly placed next to both Mouton and Lafite and produces a lush fruity quality, lavish quantities of toasty new oak, and greater depth and flavor dimension.
Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste, Pauillac
The estate has enjoyed a solid reputation for big, durable, full-bodied Pauillacs due to an extensive remodeling program for Grand Puy's ancient and dilapidated cellars to produce one of the finest wine made by Xavier Borie.
Chateau Lynch Bages, Pauillac
This Chateau is located midway between Mouton and Lafite to the north, and Latour, Pichon Lalande and Baron to the south. Despite the enormous amount of modernization that has taken place, the general philosophy of wine remains quite traditional.
