Chateau Haut Brion
Chateau Haut Brion is located in the appellation Pessac-Leognan. It is the oldest Grand Cru of Bordeaux.
Chateau Haut Brion is a Premier Grand Cru Classe. The vines have an average age of 30 years old, and the grape varieties are: Cabernet-Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet-Franc (20%).
Chateau Haut Brion produces different wines : Chateau Haut Brion Red Wine, Chateau Haut Brion White Wine, Le Clarence de Haut Brion and Les Plantiers de Haut Brion.
Chateau Haut Brion was funded by the Pontac familiy. The Chateau was built in 1549. In 1801, it was bought by Talleyrand (Napoleon Bonaparte’s minister), who then sold it in 1804. In 1855, it became one of the four Premier Grand Cru Classe, when Joseph-Eugene Larrieu was the owner.
Chateau Haut Brion is a very unique wine thanks to its flavours and its tannins.
