Before 1670, all the wines from the region of Epernay were red wines. But a monk responsible for finance from the abbey de Benedictine d’Hautvilliers Dom Perignon discovered that it was possible to improve the quality of the wine blending them. Besides, he decided to reinforce the bottles and to add hemp to the cork.

Dom Perignon is a vintage wine coming from Champagne. The vintages 1921 and 1928 are the most fabulous. It is important to know that when a harvest doesn’t answer to the quality criteria Dom Perignon is not exploited.
