Hennessy and Hennessy Pure White
Hennessy was created in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an old Irish aristocrat military. His son developed the sales from 1785, and Hennessy became quickly the Cognac brand the most sold in the world. Nowadays, Hennessy represents the 4th letter of LVMH group.
Hennessy and Hennessy Pure white is a brandy produced in the region of Cognac, in the departments of Charentes and Charentes Maritimes. Different terroirs were created in 1938: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne which are located on soils composed of limestone, and on clayey soils we can find Borderies, Fins Bois, Bon Bois and Bois.
The Ugni Blanc is the main grape variety, but we also can find Folle-Blanche, Sémillon and Montils. The must ferments during a few days, and the wine is distilled 2 times before aging 2 years in oak barrels. Then it is transformed into Cognac. The Cognac comes from the blend of several alcohols aged in barrels. “La part des anges” is the evaporation of alcohol during this period of maturing.
We can find different appellations: VS minimum 2 ans d’age, VSOP minimum 4 ans d’age and XO minimum 6 ans d’age.
Nowadays, Hennessy is the leader on the Cognac market, and it is present in 130 countries.
