Château Balestard la Tonnelle
Classified among the top wines. Saint-Emilion has been the home of the Capdemourlin family for the past 400 years. With an exceptional heritage that includes three Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé estates (plus Château Roudier, one of the top wines in the Montagne Saint-Emilion appellation), Jacques Capdemourlin is one of the most respected figures in the region. With his son Thierry at his side, he has devoted himself to bringing out the best expression of his terroir, with a policy of continual investments in the vineyards and cellars. We have no choice but to appreciate this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé 2002, still closed, with a concentrated bouquet, hint of spices, rich and dense in the mouth, fragrant, very promising.
The 2001, marked by its majority of Merlot, is fat, fragrant, classic, full-bodied, with an intense nose of ripe red fruit and leather, charming and well-bred, with aging potential.
Superb 2000, a great, powerful wine, dominated by its elegance. |

Château Balestard la Tonnelle 2003
Rating: 16.5
drink 2008-2018
Mid crimson without a very deep rim. Very sweet and almost cheesey too. Good supple texture with attack and good fine, sandy tannins. Persistence and depth and the material with which to age and evolve.
Quite dry on the finish at the moment but this is serious wine. Neat. |

Château Balestard la Tonnelle 2002
Rating: 15.5/20
Se développe harmonieusement. La touche boisée complète la note florale. La finale charme par sa douceur. Patience, ce vin saura tout donner de 2008 à 2014. |

Simply superb! Incredible breeding, perceptible tannins, refined, lively, but not aggressive, floral, fruity finish. Intense 2012- 2020. |
