Petit Faurie de Soutard and its history
In 1850, this estate was separated from the large Soutard vineyard, from which it takes part of its name. Faurie is the ancient name of the area, and it is here that a great battle took place during the Hundred Years War. Château Petit Faurie de Soutard, situated on the heights of Saint-Emilion a half a mile from the medieval village, belonged to the Corbière family until 1936, when it was acquired By Mr and Mrs Aberlen.
In 1964, their daughter, Françoise married Jacques Capdemourlin, owner of Châteaux Balestard la Tonnelle, Cap de Mourlin (both Saint-Emilion Great Classified Growths) and Château Roudier in Montagne-Saint-Emilion Appellation, thus grouping together the four Châteaux. Jacques Capdemourlin became Managing Director of the group and in 1978, Françoise became director of Château Petit Faurie de Soutard.

Extensive renovations
In 1999, extensive renovations were carried out, with a new stainless steel vat room and a barrel cellar.
Jacques Capdemourlin brought in Jean-Philippe Fort, the right-hand man of Michel Rolland as consultant for the vinification.
