Bernard de Got was a winegrower before to becoming Pope Clément V. In 14th century, he has inheritated a small vineyard in Pessac. He was condemned for being opposed to the “Ordre des Templiers”. But previously, he had left his property to the archdiocese of Bordeaux, who has made every effort to keep the spirit of Pope Clement V alive. Therefore, the vineyards of Pape-Clement became a model, with specificity: the harvests always were the first of all in Gironde.

In 18th century, the vineyards of Pape-Clement featured among the first Classified Graves Growths.
During the French Revolution, the properties of the archdiocese were confiscated and put up for. Thus, in 1791, Charles Peixotto purchased the estate. Several owners succeeded, of whom Jean-Baptiste Clerc. He had the chateau built, which has been modified many times. When the Cinto family was owner, the vineyard of Pape-Clement was ravaged by a terrible storm in 1937. It was a real disaster! Because the chateau already was weakened by the Great Depression of 1929 and several poor years.
In 1939, the estate was purchased by Paul Montagne. He saved the property and reformed the vineyards. In 1959, the chateau was classified as a Graves Growth. The château Pape-Clement peaks thanks to Paul’s son, Leo and Bernard Magrez.
Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron de Pichon, Pauillac, Bordeaux France
"2ème Cru" classified in 1855. The vineyard of Pichon Baron (such called to distinguish it from his neighbour Pichon Longueville Comtesse of Lalande) is stuck to the which of Latour, on one of the most beautiful soils of Pauillac. In 1988, the castle was restored with ambition by Axa. In same time, Jean-Michel Cazes, from Lynch Bages, was called to improve the results. Decade 90 was the beginning of intensely powerful and dense wines, finally worthy of this exceptional Graves soil.

When May Eliane de Lencquesaing, became the owner and administrator of the Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, she revived the tradition of the Comtesse de Lalande, with her passion for wine and management.
Located in the southern part of Pauillac, near Saint-Julien, the unusual choice of grape varieties gives the wine its personality: Cabernet Sauvignon, (45 %), Merlot (35 %), Cabernet Franc (12 %), Petit Verdot ( 8 %). Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a Second Classified Growth (2ème Grand Cru Classé) which has an international fame.
The success is due to the selection of the grapes harvest ensuring perfect maturity. The vintage rules the hand-picking, Merlot, which is an early grape begins, Cabernets and Verdot closes the harvest.
The elegance of this very intense crimson coloured wine is combined to the finesse of ripe fruits. The prestigious soil of this Cru Classé gives expression to a rich but soft texture and a silky aftertaste.
Rabelais called it « le vin clémentin ». This wine is produced with the youngest vines of Château Pape Clément. Very typical of the appellation, it develops a balanced and silky nature. Its personality relies on the noble blend of the vines.
