Tradition tells that the origin of the name comes from a spot where winegrowers could hear Angelus being rung simultaneously in the area’s three churches: the Chapel in Mazerat, the church of Saint-Martin-de-Mazerat and the church in Saint-Emilion. In 1909, Maurice de Bouard de Laforest purchased a 3-hectare vineyard, called Angelus, close to his vineyard of Château Mazerat. In 1954, when the Château was classified, Château Angelus became the final name. Nowadays, the third generation of family de Bouard de Laforest improves the business.
For information, the blend is mainly made up of Merlot Noir (50%), Cabernet Franc (47%) and traces of Cabernet-Sauvignon.

Château Balestard la Tonnelle Saint Emilion Bordeaux France
Château Balestard la Tonnelle
This magnificent property of 10.6 hectares (26.5 acres) is situated above Saint-Emilion, on the limestone-clay plateau. The Chateau is located just a half a mile from the gates of the medieval village, and the name "Balestard" means chanoine or religious canon of the Jurisdiction of Saint-Emilion, and "Tonnelle" represents the ancient 15th century watch tower that still stands in the middle of the vineyard and is the emblem of the estate. The creation of this vineyard dates from the 15th century. During that time, François Villon praised the qualities of the wine from Château Balestard la Tonnelle in a poem, which can be seen on the label. Long-time held by the Berthauts-Couture family, Château Balestard la Tonnelle was sold in 1923 to Mr Berthon, grandfather of Jacques Capdemourlin, the current owner and former student of Emile Peynaud, oenologist at the Faculté d'Oenologie in Bordeaux

During the Middle-Ages the monks of Saint-Martin took over at the Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot where the Gallo-Romans had left off eight centuries before. The estate then passed into the Geres family, who were nobility from the Camarsac area. In 1722, one of their descendants, Jeanne de Geres, married into the Carles de Figeac family, and brought the estate with her. The estate was named Beau-Sejour in 1787 by the new proprietor, General Jacques de Carle. However, he had no successor, and after a series of sales and inheritances the estate of Beau-Sejour fell in 1924 into the hands of Docteur Jean Fagouet, who expanded the vineyard to 10 hectares 5 (about 26 acres). Michel Becot, originating from a wine-growing family settled in Saint-Emilion since 1760, bought the estate in 1969. Château Beau-Sejour became Château Beau-Sejour Becot. Michel Becot retired in 1985, and his sons, Gerard and Dominique, now manage the estate. Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot was classified in 1855 as a first classified growth B (premier grand cru classe B). Merlot (70%), Cabernet franc (24%) and Cabernet-Sauvignon (6%) are the grape varieties of the blend.
