Los Alamos, which means "The Cottowoods" in Spanish, is a strong and successful growing region situated between the Santa Maria Valley appellation and the Santa-Ynez Valley appellation. The Los Alamos Valley is bounded by the northern Solomon Hills and southern Purisima Hills.Los Alamos is a transverse valley with a temperature climate all its own. The western stretch of the valley floor exhibits cooler temperatures while the eastern stretch remains warmer with protected foothills.
